“Excellent when it’s exotic.” That’s how the men from Bonsai Panda like to describe themselves. A tree that almost never grows and a creature that has great difficulty reproducing — you’d be forgiven for thinking that the five young musicians behind Bonsai Panda were trying to talk down expectations for this new group from the outset.

Undeservedly, for that matter, because their short-term-memory music is a thrilling blend of jazz, rock and classical. As energetic as they come, these players simply forget quickly, but their sound strikes a strong note thanks to the unusual line-up of drums, guitar, trombone, French horn and clarinet. And it’s not all full speed ahead. When these pandas show things down, they can play the most wonderful melodies.
