This autumn a sensational collaboration between the Curaçao pianist and Edison winner Randal Corsen and the New Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra – the hippest big band in the Netherlands and the flagship of Rotterdam jazz – takes to the stage.

Randal Corsen caused a sensation in 2003 with his debut album Evolushon, on which he combined modern jazz with influences from the Antilles and Caribbean, a sound that landed him an Edison Award. Renowned for his energetic style of playing, the pianist is a master at blending Antillean, jazz and classical music. For this collaboration (‘enkuentro’), Corsen will specially arrange a number of his compositions for the remarkable line-up of the New Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra, a collective with a personality all of its own, no conductor, and made up of nothing but idiosyncratic musicians.

A touch of Curaçao, a dash of Rotterdam, and lots of fantastic music. An insanely big party and an enkuentro to look forward to.
