Pianist Ramón Valle is Cuban, but he’s actually a true cosmopolite. Ever since relocating to the Netherlands fifteen years ago, Valle has felt like a fish in water. The Dutch jazz scene allow him to give free rein to his creativity, combining his Latin roots with influences ranging from Shostakovich to Keith Jarrett.

For Jazz International Rotterdam he will team up with the celebrated guitarist Reinier Baas, who derives endless pleasure from catching his listeners off guard. Although Baas and Valle have plenty in common, the adventurous edge to their impressionistic performances, steering clear of Cuban stereotypes, makes for an exciting exchange of musical ideas.
